Powerful Hypnotic Pain Therapy
HYPNOSIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT. IT CAN ENHANCE AND IS COMPLIMENTARY TO MEDICAL AS WELL AS MANY OTHER TYPES OF THERAPY.
Pain is the body's “alarm” system. It tells us to “take care”. It is extremely important to obtain a good medical evaluation and proper treatment. Once the cause of the pain is known and treated, you no longer need to continue the experience of pain. It becomes dysfunctional. Realize that all pain is real, but not all pain is useful. Pain is a signal that something is not right. The body does not think, only the mind thinks. Whatever the mind accepts or perceives as reality the body must concur. When the subconscious mind alleviates the subjective experience of pain the expectation of pain relief is enhanced.
When our nerve cells become stimulated by disease or injury the message is then “telegraphed” to the brain (The Gate Control Theory of Pain). The pain then travels the spinal cord into different parts of the brain where it is interpreted. Some messages may be interpreted as a reflex. For example, coming in contact with a hot stove, you automatically move your hand before pain is evident. Another part of the brain may decode the nature of the pain and translate the message into discomfort, unpleasantness or feeling of wanting the pain to stop.
You can look to yourself for relief. It is within our own body and minds that the greatest power of relief can be found. Because most pain treatments are from the outside (a band-aid fix), you may not understand that you are able to control the pain from the inside. From early years we have been conditioned to believe someone else will make our pain go away ("Kiss it and make it better" or "Take a pill and call me in the morning.") Within the subconscious mind is the power of inner healing. From the moment of birth you have had the miracle power to heal.
Hypnosis works! Once the source of the pain has been located and treated, pain has outlasted its usefulness. Any type of non-useful pain can be controlled while leaving the “alarm” system intact. (It is important not to eliminate all problem sensations.) With hypnosis you may control unwanted, unnecessary pain but still experience new sensations that alert you to a new problem or a change in an existing one.
Hypnosis works for pain relief by changing the way you experience or interpret the pain. You can turn off or reinterpret the pain. The goal is to limit the discomfort and sense only enough to describe the location and what it is.
Some pain will be positively changed with one’s first experience. You may find immediate relief. If you have experienced chronic pain for a long period of time it may take longer to build the comfort level you desire. Others may take just a few sessions before results are noticed. Everyone’s experience is different but to get the best possible results you must include the following four considerations:
You must practice--success with hypnosis requires practice and experimentation with different approaches.
You must be motivated to receive relief of pain--ask yourself, “Do I need my pain’, “What am I getting out of my pain?”
You must believe that it is okay to let go of your pain.
And finally, you must believe that you can control your pain--it is not external, you experience it in your brain.
If you have not used the power of your mind to control pain thus far in your life, you have already lived too long without the benefits it can bring to your mind and your body.
